SYKES' INSTRUMENTS


These Instruments were introduced for use in Western Australia on Sunday, 20th July, 1902, at 10.40 a.m. with the introduction of Sykes’ Lock and Block between Fremantle and East Fremantle which was reported in Copy of Circular No.  500, dated 18th July, 1902 published on Page 16, Weekly Notice 31 / 1902.

From this first installation, other installations ensued:

East Fremantle and North Fremantle - On Monday, 1st of September, 1902, at 10 a. m - Weekly Notice 37 / 1902;
North Fremantle, Cottesloe and Claremont, 20th December, 1906 - as detailed in Circular No. 20, dated 19th December, 1906.
Claremont, Loch Street, Karrakatta, Lawler Street, Subiaco and West Perth - Weekly Notice 43 / 1910;

Subsequent installations were:
Melbourne Road, Perth Box B, Perth Box C, Lord Street and East Perth.
