DIAGRAMS OF SIGNALLING

FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA

From time to time, the Western Australian Government Railways published Diagrams of Signalling, either as 'sketch' type drawings sent to depot stations for the edification of Drivers; and later via the in-house "Weekly Notices" for all other railway employees. SIGWA have a collection (copies) of a lot of these, but our collection is by no means complete - especially the 'sketch' type diagrams.

These diagrams quite naturally changed over the years and can be tracked in various ways. Some diagrams did not always show the correct dates (if printed on them at all), which makes accurate dating of them somewhat challenging.

Subsequent changes to the Track layout and / or signalling equipment are reflected in the addition of a suffix letter behind the Diagram number.

In addition to the above, the drawings themselves were subject to complete re-naming due to the changes of Departmental Names and other factors.

NOTE: Lists have been compiled from official records and donations of original diagrams, and sometimes copies of same, have been amassed.

If you have a collection of diagrams, we would be very grateful if you could help by donating either a hard-copy diagram or a scanned copy, of any diagram that is missing from our collection. Please contact SIGnallingWA by e-mail.
